Flag Retirement Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. at Damascus American Legion Post 171, 10201 Lewis Drive, Damascus. The Post will adhere strictly to the prescribed process for disposing of worn and unusable American Flags with dignity and respect. Opportunity for children and grandchildren to learn about this aspect of being an American. Damascus Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 171 and Scout Troop 1397 will assist the Post, and refreshments will be available following the ceremony. Tattered or old, withered flags can be dropped off at the flag drop box at the back of the American Legion Post home any time before June 11.
