Friends House will sponsor three bus tours that will start at Sandy Spring Friends Meetinghouse, 17715 Meeting House Road, and include stops at Woodlawn Manor Historical Park, Sandy Spring Slave Museum and Sandy Spring Museum. Lorne Garrettson will be the guide, with additional guides at each stop. Trips will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 14, 1 p.m. Sept. 14 and 1 p.m. Sept. 15. Designed to give an understanding of the settlement and history of Sandy Spring; offer interesting facts about the Quaker Meeting House and community, the neighboring Lyceum and the graveyard; and discuss the history of slave-holding in the Sandy Spring area, along with activities of those who were freed. Tours will last about three hours. Two seats accessible to wheelchairs available for each tour. Tickets are $40 and available at http://www.friendshouse.com/lifestyle/events/.
