National Capital Trolley Museum will commemorate Memorial Day with an exhibit, “Homefront Street Cars,” and presentation of two World War II-era films May 27-29. The exhibit recalls the impact of the war on the men and women of the Capital Transit Company. Trying to meet passenger demand with limited resources, the company produced films to encourage patrons to use its services effectively. Kansas City Public Service created a film to persuade employees to improve their work performance. “Tilley the Trolley and Billy the Bus” will be shown at 12:50 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. and “Ten Seconds to Go” will be shown at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. every weekend and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. selected Thursdays and Fridays.
