Sandy Spring Cultural Station, a new nonprofit devoted to exploring the culture of Black and indigenous people of color, will partner with Sandy Spring Museum and Olive Branch Community Church in a discussion of Yaa Gyasi’s bestseller, “Homegoing,” at 3 p.m. at Sandy Spring Friends Lyceum, Meeting House Road, Sandy Spring. Professional storyteller, retired Montgomery County high school English teacher and Olive Branch member Cyrus Washington will lead a discussion of the themes of “conflict” and “subculture” in the novel that covers glimpses into the lives of two Ghanaian sisters: one trafficked into slavery in the Americas and the other married to an English governor in West Africa. Free. All welcome even if they have not read the book. Register at SandySpringMuseum.org/NEABIGREAD.
