This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Olney Chamber of Commerce Community Night, billed as the county’s oldest business expo.

The event will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, 17301 Old Vic Blvd., Olney.

“We are excited to bring this wonderful community event to the greater Olney area once again,” chamber Executive Director Jon Hulsizer said. “We are looking forward to a fantastic turnout and the opportunity to showcase businesses, restaurants and community organizations that make this a great place to live and grow your family.”

About 4,000 to 5,000 visitors are expected to attend and approximately 80 exhibitors will showcase their goods and services.

Hulsizer said the event will be much the same as it has in the past, with ample free parking, free admission, a chance to interact with business owners and community organizations, and sample dishes from local restaurants at the Taste of Olney.

“It’s hard to sell a business expo to residents, but for us, we think it is important for residents to know the many local businesses and resources that are available to them,” he said. “There are activities and educational organizations for children, home improvement companies, and services ranging from real estate to insurance. Community Night offers a great opportunity to learn more about them.”

First-time exhibitors will include Onelife Fitness Olney, which is expected to open in the former Giant Food location in the spring.

Brookeville-based Hero Dogs will conduct demonstrations in the auxiliary gym. Additional demonstrations and performances by local dance and martial arts studios, will be featured..

As of The Greater Olney News press time, Chick-fil-A, Mamma Lucia, Nirvana Indian Cuisine, Sardi’s Taphouse, Rita’s Italian Ice and Cava Mezze had committed to participate in the Taste of Olney, which will be held in the school’s dining hall.

Hulsizer said he was also expecting The Greene Turtle, Brew Belly and Taco Bar to participate.

Flu shots will once again be available.

Visitors are encouraged to take a non-perishable food item or monetary donation in support of Olney HELP. Collection boxes will be placed at each entrance.

There will be a variety of raffle and silent auction items to include restaurants gift cards and certificates, children’s activities, summer camps, automotive services, gift baskets, sports memorabilia, theater and event tickets, and more.

Hulsizer said a record number of event sponsors are on board. As of press time, they included: Carl M. Freeman Companies, Platinum; DMV Exteriors and Fitzgerald Lakeforest Toyota, Gold; and Onelife Fitness Olney, MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, Brooke Grove Retirement Village and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Silver.
