The 71st Montgomery County Agricultural Fair will return Aug. 9-17 to the fairgrounds in Gaithersburg with the theme “Feed Your Senses.”
Highlights will include Kountry K-9’s rescue dogs and ATV drag racing. The demolition derby, Monster Truck Madness and 4-H cake auction will return, along with the midway, offering carnival rides and games.
The fair showcases 4-H and FFA members, as well as adults, whose goal is to educate the community about their animal projects. Old McDonald’s barn will offer a close-up look at a variety of animals, including several cows that are ready to give birth.
Fair contests will include coloring, toilet decorating, ice cream eating and the quest for Maryland’s Largest Homemade Cheese.
The fair’s king and queen will be crowned at 6 p.m. Aug. 11 following the 4-H Parade. The ceremony will recognize the 10 finalists in the Royal Court, selected on leadership; involvement in the Agricultural Fair, 4-H and their communities; and public speaking ability.
