District 14 legislators to seek re-election in 2018

The District 14 state lawmakers filed for re-election to their Senate and House seats in the 2018 elections on Feb. 28, the first day candidates could formally file the paperwork with the Board of Elections.
State Sen. Craig J. Zucker (D) of Brookeville, Del. Anne R. Kaiser (D) of Calverton, Del. Eric G. Luedtke (D) of Burtonsville and Del. Pamela E. Queen (D) of Olney also announced the formation of a legislative slate called the District 14 Team.
“We will continue to work together to ensure District 14 gets the resources and representation it deserves,” the candidates say in a joint statement.
In a press release, the candidates state they would work to strengthen the education system and work to protect working families, businesses and community priorities throughout the district.
They say the team’s priority is to promote a community of equality and diversity.
Zucker served five years in the House of Delegates prior to being appointed to fill Sen. Karen Montgomery’s seat in February 2016. In one year, he has risen to a leadership position on the Senate Committee on Education, Health and Environmental Affairs, as co-chair of the health subcommittee.
Kaiser is in her fourth term as a member of the House of Delegates and was recently appointed as the chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, after having served as Majority Leader.
Luedtke is finishing his second term in the House. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and chairs the Education Subcommittee, helping to shape education policy.
Queen, who was appointed last year to the House to fill Zucker’s seat when he moved to the Senate, serves on the Judiciary Committee tackling public safety and criminal justice reform.
The Maryland General Assembly is approximately two-thirds of the way through its 2017 lawmaking session in Annapolis.
