The District 14 legislative team, including newly appointed Del. Bernice Mireku-North (second from right), took part in opening-day events at the start of the 445th session of the Maryland General Assembly in Annapolis on Jan. 11.
A former assistant state’s attorney in Anne Arundel County, Mireku-North (D) fills the seat left vacant by former-Del. Eric Luedtke, who resigned to become the chief legislative officer for Gov. Wes Moore, who will be sworn into office on Jan. 18.
District 14 is also represented by Sen. Craig Zucker (D), Del. Anne Kaiser (D) and Del. Pam Queen (D).
“We congratulated Bernice Mireku- North as the newest member of the District 14 Team,” Zucker, Kaiser and Queen said. “Her work in criminal justice and law will be a tremendous asset. We look forward to working collaboratively with her on behalf of our district.”
Outgoing-Gov. Larry Hogan announced Mireku-North’s appointment on Jan. 6. She was selected by Montgomery County’s Democratic Central Committee on Jan. 3.
