Sandy Spring Museum serves up a berry good time
Visitors flock to the Sandy Spring Museum’s 37th Strawberry Festival June 2 and 3, considered one of the most anticipated events of spring. This year’s festival was expanded to two days for the first time. Despite steady, drenching rain the second day, the event is hailed a success.
“There were some hardy souls here on Sunday who did not let the weather stand in between them and getting strawberry shortcake,” museum Executive Director Allison Weiss said, adding that all of the vendors and activities went on despite the inclement weather.
“It’s still an amazing community event – the museum staff just pulls together the pieces,” Weiss said. “Community members really make it happen. We still plan on trying for two days next year.”
