Voting underway; General Election is Nov. 8

Voting is underway for the 2022 Gubernatorial General Election, with the Montgomery County Board of Elections accepting mail-in ballots from those who requested them.

General Election Day is Nov. 8.

Early Voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 to Nov. 3 at 14 polling places in the county.

Voters may cast their ballots at any of the voting sites.

Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Ride On bus service is available to transport voters to the Early Voting centers located throughout the County.

“In Montgomery County, a large portion of our population relies on public transportation for essential trips,” said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin. “Buses allow for inclusion, connectedness and advancement. We want to ensure that all of our residents, regardless of income or ability, can get to polling sites.”

Residents can look up scheduled Ride On bus routes by location at https://rideon.app/directions.

Fare collection resumed on all Montgomery County buses on Aug. 1. The one-way pre-pandemic fare, which was $2 per ride, is now $1.

 

Election Day

 

On Election Day, voters must cast their ballot in person at their assigned polling place.

The list of polling place is available at https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/PollingPlaceSearch.

 

Mail-in ballots and drop boxes

 

Those who requested mail-in ballots but prefer to drop them in drop boxes may do so at any of the boxes in the county.

The drop boxes will remain open until Election Day.

In all, 55 ballot drop boxes will be available, with three located in senior living facilities limited to residents in Asbury Village, Leisure World and Riderwood.

To be counted, mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than Nov. 8 and the oath on the postage-paid return envelope that arrives with the ballot must be signed.

Those who choose to cast their votes using ballot drop boxes must submit their completed ballots by the final collection time – 8 p.m. on Nov. 8 — for their ballot to count.
